It is that time of year again!…on Sunday, February 8th, I will don the shoes of a stranger and attempt to bowl 3 perfect games to benefit the Massachusetts Avenue Project, and I’d love to have you sponsor me!
MAP’s Growing Green Program employs 40-50 of West Side youth every year, and teaches them about healthy eating and accessing fresh local food, as well as farming, sustainable food production, and social enterprise. The Massachusetts Avenue Project continues to be recognized nationally as a model for building a local food system with residents, from the ground up. We provide youth with gainful employment, while providing education, training and healthy food to people all over Buffalo. In a City where the graduation rate is an appalling 47% (25% for African-American males), for the last 5 years, participants in our program have had a 95% graduation rate and all of these young people have gone on to college. This past year, with city-wide partners, MAP helped establish the Buffalo-Erie County Food Policy Council, an advisory board that will advocate for policies that support a sustainable, local food system.
Please help me raise money to underwrite MAP’s important activities which boost the local economy and assist in the rejuvenation of our local food system.
SO, here’s the deal! You have 2 ways to participate in this year’s Bowl-A-Rama!!!
#1) Sponsor me with a pledge!: You can make a pledge in two ways:
- Pledge online by credit card or paypal, by visiting http://bit.ly/1s28BU5. If choosing this option please make a note that the pledge is for the Bowl-a-rama.
- Write a check. Checks can be made out to the Massachusetts Avenue Project and sent to 271 Grant Street, Buffalo, NY 14213. Please put Bowl-A-Rama and my name in the memo line of your check.
#2) Collect your own sponsors and Bowl with us! We believe in the “more the merrier” philosophy of life and would love to have you bowl with us! I ask that you consider a goal of raising $200 in pledges if you would like to bowl with us. Just get a ticket and use the online sponsorship form to gather your own pledges for MAP. Your shoes and lane costs will be covered by your ticket. Please collect pledges prior to the event and bring with you on February 8th!
I really appreciate you considering supporting me in my quest to keep important programs like Growing Green and food justice alive in Buffalo.
Thanks a bunch!
